Assumptions for Understanding the relationship between CAN numbers, institutional
adoption and articulation of same.
- The Agriculture Discipline Committee for IMPAC and CPAAC have formally adopted
the new Prefix and Numbering System for continued work within the Ag Discipline
on a Statewide basis (12-2-04 Winter IMPAC/CPAAC Meeting).
- The Agriculture Statewide Curriculum and "New" CAN numbering system have been
approved by the CAN Board (2/2/05) opening the door for statewide adoption of the
CAN Agriculture Numbers by colleges and universities for inclusion in Course Catalog
Descriptions.
- Title V does not allow for the awarding of upper division credit for community
college courses.
- Any specific accommodation for subject matter competence, obtained at the community
college, will be on a case by case basis and under the purview of the individual
transfer university
- Adoption of the Statewide Agriculture courses is the prerogative of each institution,
but it is suggested that CPAAC consider "Grandfathering" all existing articulated
courses and appropriately approving the new AGCAN Prefixes and Numbers to be utilized
by each institution as desired.
- Articulation will continue to be based on institution to institution agreements.
