C-ID Descriptors Approval Rubrics

C-ID, Course Identification Numbering System, is an intersegmental effort to replace the defunct California Articulation Number - CAN System. C-ID has sought the participation of all segments of higher education in California (California Community Colleges, California State Universities, University of California, and Private Institutions) and is already an improvement over the old CAN System. Whereas the old CAN system relied on brief course descriptions and the establishment of articulation to determine equivalency, C-ID utilizes a robust Course Descriptor for the purposes of qualifying courses for a C-ID designation that includes much more information, such as, Course Description, Course Objectives, credit hours, etc. and includes an approval process made up of intersegmental discipline faculty.
